Good to hear from you. Your records are consistent with mine,
I was responding to Barbara's presumed miss-type. She had written that Rebecca (s/b Rebecca's dau. Mary) m. William. I call this William #2.
I posted a separate response to your earlier query about William #1's parents. Did you see that message?
I have another question for you about the Essex probate records; believe I'll ask that separately. --Gene J.
You wrote, "James A. Preston was my Great Grandfather ... wife Lizze E. ... children Lottie B., Frank C., and Nancy E...."

Might you have a dob or dod for any of the above Prestons? If you have located them in various census, are birth locations noted for either James A. or Lizzie E.?

I don't think we are related, but might your James A. and Lizzie E. have resided at Redlands, CA in 1900, had dau. Nancy A. residing with them. This Nancy b. Apr 1887; James A. rept. b. Apr 1847 at PA/PA/PA; Lizze E. b. Jan 1851, PA/MD/PA--reports the mother had but one children but that indication seems in a different pen. Nancy indexed as Maney.

What was he doing there so far from Connecticut? Does anyone have any clues?
Great to connect. Dora's sister Mary (Preston) Williams was my great grandmother. Her son Russell Williams was my mothers father. My mothers sister was lost in the Portsmouth, Ohio flood back in 1937 ( Portsmouth is 45 min south of Chillicothe. Her picture appeared in the News paper and Dora and Charles recognized her and rescued her, she lived with them for a short time. I believe several Preston's are buried in Grandview Cemetery, Dora's parents Charles and Martha Preston. I hope to visit there as the weather improve here. A interesting twist I discovered this year while discussing my family search with my mother in law. She recalled her mothers good friend- Dora Preston! I have a few pictures of a young Dora, a few sisters and 2 brothers. I am willing to share. Do you have any photos or info on any of Dora's family? You may contact me through this thread or outside of Ancestry at MSJLJ1@aol.com use Preston as subject. Jenny

I wish I could help you out, but don't think I can. Of all the Prestons in our family I am not aware of an Albert. I don't know of any of them being in the New York area. The ones I know of at this point were in Massachuetts, stayed in England and went to New Zealand. If I find anything that looks promising for you, I will let you know.
Good luck in your search. There is an answer out there.
Judi

I just saw your message 12 years after it was posted. My husband's name is Robert Preston. His grandfather was Roger Kenyon Preston who came over to Fall River. I think he is related, but some of the names of sons, etc. are wrong.
If you are interested, I would love to contact you. My home email address is Judipreston@yahoo.com I hope to hear from you.
Judi

The Age Herald Birmingham, Alabama
Saturday, September 11, 1897

Killed By A Friend

Robert Preston Cut to Death by Perry Simpson – Both Were Farmers

Special to The Age Herald.

Huntsville, September 10. Robert Preston was killed at Plevna, Alabama last night by Perry Simpson.

Both are farmers and have families. Preston and Simpson were lifelong friends and were out on a spree together. At Plevna they bought a can of cove oysters and this caused the trouble. One wanted to put vinegar in the oysters and the other did not. Preston got some rocks and began to disfigure Simpson, who now had his knife and began to cut him. Preston was disemboweled.

Simpson came to Huntsville today and surrendered to the authorities. He is now in jail.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. I would love to connect my Preston line with yours. The furthest I go back is to Roger Preston (1614-1666) of London and his wife Martha. I have no idea if we're talking about the same Roger, but maybe so. I only have one of his sons, and then one of each of their sons for many generations, so my information is limited. My line goes (most of which lived in Massachusettes): Roger(1614)>Samuel(1651)>Samuel(1672)>Samuel(1709)>James(1729)>James(1775)>James(1803)>John Boyd(1836), and finally fans out. Do you see any connections?

Let me know!
