PRACHT-Maine

Surnames: PRACHT, PROCHT, PROCK
I am looking for information on Prachts who settled in Waldoboro, Maine in the 1750s. Over the years their name changed to Procht and then to Prock. Do any Prachts know the German town their ancestors came from? It might narrow my search.

I was contacted by a Greg Pracht whose family was from Florence, KY near Cincinnati, OH. He said in contacts with some busines partners in Germany he was informed that our name originates from near Hamburg and roughly translates to crown jewel.

My Pracht ancestors settled around St. Louis, MO. My maternal great-grandfather Zachaus Pracht was born Abt 1891 in Lenterschack, Near Marktoberdorf, Bavaria, Germany. I hope this helps.

The proper spelling of the village near Marktoberdorf is LEUTERSCHACH. There are five Pracht listed in the phine book 2006.
