Michael POZNANSKI was my great-grandfather. All I know is that he was married to Sophia SZWEC and had at least four children in Woosocket, Rhode Island. Thier children were Eugene Poznanski, Julia Rogozyn, Olgar Angell, and Jennie Cecconi. If you have any information about Michael or Sophia please contact me. Patti

I don't have any information that you can use, however, I am a very good friend of the Poznanski family. We lived in Nasonville and I babysat for Carole and Gene in Pascoag. My father and mother were friends of Jennie and Gene when they lived in Providence and later on Tarklin Road. I remember what a wonderful cook your grandmother was. I would love to know how your mom and dad are and if they are still in the area. I now live in California. My mother is living here also; her name is Helen. Please have your dad get in touch with me if possible. sdama2@aol.com I am anxious to hear about your family and where you all are living. Thanks.

He was my grandfather.I'm Dorothy [Cecconi] Riley. I believe you are my cousin Gene Poznanski,s daughter. Haven't heard from Gene in avery long time, altho' we were very close as children. Remember his first wife was Carol and they had 4 children together, Jennifer, Patti, and twin boys. I have tried to do a genealogy on the Poznanskis but have't gotten very far. I'll give you what I know:They arrived in the usa @1902. They came with their daughter, Julia. Gramdma was purported to have given birth to 13 children and only 5 survived infancy, Julia, Edward, Eugene, Olga and my mother, Jennie. They came from Galicia, Austria which had been part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Galicia was composed of German, Polish,Ukranians and Jews. Sophie, grandma's father owned a farm and when he died she came into a little money and with it they bought a little [hole-in-the-wall market] that failed. In the late part of the 19th century it was unusual for ordinary citizens to own property, but Austria was liberal in that respect. Nevertheles the Scwecs must have been very industrious peasants. They lived in the western part of Galicia, they were called Rutherians. Grandpa claims to have been Polish and Ukranian and they spoke both languages fluently, however they never learnedEnglish. Many of the people who came from the same place[they settled close together when they came to this country, as most immigrants did ].They settled in Woonsocket,RI they were Roman Catholics and Greek Othodox. There was a greaat schism between the two and when it came time to build a church each went their own way. The Poznanskis were Roman Catholic and were instruemental in building of St. Michael's Roman Caholic Church Grandpa was a pillar of the church. He was a kind, gentle man and I was very fond of him. He died when I was 23 in 1952. Grandma was a bad alcholic and died when I was 7.I have many folk stories that were passed down and if you're interested I'll pass them on. Also when I looked up Poznanski I found there were a lot of Jews with that name and I always wondered if we were a little bit, very little bit Jewish. By the way Ilive in Southern California. We ca me out here in 1985. I have 8 very sucessful children.

TO: Dorothy (Ceconi) Riley FROM: Pattiann (Poznanski) Barber
Hello! Yes, I am Gene Poznanski’s daughter, Pattiann. It was so exciting to hear from you. I posted that message many years ago and only heard from two others, one a family friend and a woman named Rosalie (Szwec) Harris, who lives right here in Rhode Island. I would love to hear every folk story you have and share information that I have gathered with you. At the moment I haven’t much time, so I will make this first message short. I’m in nursing school and have a math exam tomorrow morning, (the first day of class), which I must study for. I should have more time this coming week end to get back to you. Thank you so much for answering my post. Pattiann (Poznanski) Barber

I am looking for any information regarding the twins, Michael and Jeffrey Poznanski. They lived for a time, perhaps early 80's, in Nashua, NH with their father and I knew them both then. We lost touch when they moved and I think of them often and would appreciate any information on their whereabouts. Thank you. Lauren Livingston-Mallory equusopp@aol.com
