Hi,
I'm born Kemijärvi, Lapland, Finnland though nowadays I'm living in Turku in southern Finland.

I've just learned that my father's father's brother Kalle Pöyliö sailed from Finland 13.01.1909 to England and further 23.01.1909 to Calumet, MI, USA onboard Cunnard Line's "Mauretania". At that time he was 23 years old.

He visited Finland/Kemijärvi sometimes in 50's when I was about 3..4 years old and I have only vague recollections on his visit.

Pöyliö is as surname which can be founf most commonly in Lapland, Finland. In Kemijärvi there is also a lake called Pöyliö-järvi (järvi = lake) and both in Kemijärvi and Rovaniemi there are hills called Pöyliö-vaara. So most likely the roots for most Pöyliös can be found in that area, I guess.

Suopanki is also quite familiar surname in Kemijärvi area.
