Re: Elizabeth Poyer born ca 1801 in Pa
Is there a chance this woman had a sister Rebecca (b. 1804) who later married a John Wallace?
John and Rebecca (Poyer) Wallace and five children relocated from an unknown point in PA prior to 1850 to Allen Co., OH where they are both buried.
John Wallace was my ggg-grandfather.
Best regards,
Bill Wallace Fairfax, VA

Re: Elizabeth Poyer born ca 1801 in Pa
Timothy: I'm sure we're talking about the same Poyer family. Rebecca Poyer, my ggg-grandmother married John Wallis (Wallace) In Pennsylvania before 1840. According to her tombstone data http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5409/cem.htmlshe was 88 yrs old when she died in 1892. This would mean she was born in 1804. By the same data, my ggg-grandfather, John, was born in 1808. I have info on the Joseph Oldfield Poyer ancestry. Do you have anything more on John Wallis (Wallace)? Best regards, Bill Wallace Fairfax, VA

Carolyn:
You may try some of the counties along the Delaware river in New Jersey, specifically, Sussex and Morris counties. Families from this area moved across the river, state and county boundaries mean nothing.
When the family migrated to Northumberland Co., PA, they resided in Rush and Sunbury townships. There may be someone online who has a Bible record available.
Just some ideas, happy hunting.

Re: Elizabeth Poyer born ca 1801 in Pa
Tim Thank you for the helpful hints in my search for Rebecca Poyer Wallace (Wallis). Do you have any information on a Rebecca Poyer marriage to Moore Furman? It seems to me that that was her first marriage and John Wallis her second, but I could be wrong. Anyway, thank you for your help. Carolyn Lundberg

Re: Elizabeth Poyer born ca 1801 in Pa
Do you know if she had a sister Rebecca, who possibly married a Furman, was widowed and married John Wallace (all of Northumberland Pa) and moved to Allen County Ohio? I thin she had a daughter Clerissa Furman, then others by John Wallace. Their son William Wallace was my great great grandfather, my grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Wallace, born about 1865. I can find no information on the marriage of Rebecca and William. Do you know anything. Any help here would be very much appreciated. Thanks! Carolyn Lundberg

Re: Elizabeth Poyer born ca 1801 in Pa
I am trying to get more information on Anna Wilkinson who married john gray on December 24, 1844. Their son, Thomas Gray, married Caroline Elizabeth Poyer on 12 October, 1870. Caroline was the daughter of Jonah poyer. Based on your info, it appears that the Poyer-Wilkinson families were related long before that marriage. Was Susannah poyer related to jonah? Was Aaron Wilkinson related to Anna?
Thanks for any info.
