i am researching the name of Sarah Poxon who lived in N. Derbyshire in the mid to late 1800's. She had a son out of wedlock called Joseph Asher. She possibly worked as a servant . Any information would be very helpful

Please reply to me directly by e-mail. Provide as much information as you have about Sarah. I have a database of POXON births, marriages and deaths for England from mid 1837 to 1968, which may bear fruit, plus other daabase of Poxons.

john,
don't know what your e mail address is but heres the info I have regarding sarah poxon:

sarah poxon
john poxon - husband
children:
joseph asher - aged 13
elizabeth poxon - aged 9
emma " " 8
john " " 6
jane " " 3
sarah " " 1
thomas " " 6 months

There address was Main Street, Heather, Leciester.
both Joseph Asher and Thomas Poxon were both born in Gresley.
It is Joseph Asher I am interested in as he is my great grandfather. I am trying to locate his father who was William Asher but I have been unsuccessful up to now. All this info is from the 1881 british census.
Isthis the same family you are tracing, if so any info would be very useful.
Thanks. Granville Shaw.
P.S. SEND ANY INFO TO ME BY E MAIL AT granvilleshaw@granvilleshaw.screaming.net

Hi Granville,

I have now figured out that this message board doesn't provide you with my e-mail address.

It is jep@powerup.com.au.

Please contact me about Sarah Poxon.
Did you realise that Gresley and Greasley are two different places?

Regards

My husband's mum was Florence Millicent poxon b 1914, daughter of Florence Jane and John Poxon b app 1863 to John and Annie Poxon of Whitwick, later moving to the Nottingham area. I have the 1881,1891 and 1901 census info for the family but no details of births yet. I was wondering if they link into one of your families at all.
Many thanks
Ruth Archer
ps Battled to find them in 1901 but with detective work found them with the name Porforn!!!
