I hope I am not the one frustrating you but yes what u said is correct. Mitchell Sory born 1782 in Virginia married elizabeth ? In north Carolina I assume. They sold a tract (1/6th of an orginal 149 acres belonging to James Powell) in 1806 and headed toward Tennessee. Since 1820 is the first smith county census that we have I am guessing they left NC for Tn after they sold that land. Mitchell Sory and family is in smith county, 18th district, Grant Community, Tn 1820,1830,1840, and 1850 census. Mitchell died in 1853 and Elizabeth Sory died in 1873. They had 11-12 children. I descend from one of their sons, John Sory.
