If you will go to any good search engine and type in Shelby County, Tx. There should be a listing for Shelby County Historical Society. In their site, see cemeteries. There is a Powdrill Cemetery, but they are also burried in Willow Grove Cemetery, Mt Olive Cemetery and Whiterock Cemetery.
So far the listing for person burried in Aiken Cemetery are not posted, but, there are more Powdrills there.
Our branch of the Powdrill's Catherine Elizabeth married W.A.T. Murray and moved to Van Zandt County, TX

My great grandmother was Grace Powdrill married to Luby Bishop. supposedly she was full blood cherokee. I am trying to find out who her parents were.last known residence shelby co ,tx..thanks brenda

Brenda, I searched through most of my Powdrill family tree here on Ancestry.com, however, the name Grace did not show up. Would you be able to give me a date of birth or something to put a time line on the person? There was a family of Bishops in the Canton, Van Zandt County, TX area.... Since your Grace was a Powdrill & from Shelby County, TX; she would have been a part of this same family line. I'll ask my mother (81) if she remembers any of the Bishop names. Best Regards, Joyce

Second reply to Brenda Carter
Brenda, After reading your message again, I wanted to follow up on another portion. The Powdrill family came from England. If your Grace is bloodline to Thomas Powdrill, she will not be Cherokee. Should you find otherwise, do let me know. Thanks,

joyce, thanks so much for your reply. All I was told growing up was my great grandmother was full blood cherrokee. Her maiden name was Grace powdrill and married luby terrel bishop my great grandfather. they had 7 boys. My grandfather died 2 yrs ago,he would be 89.I know grace powdrill died very young from Brites disease. My mother passed away last year from kidney failure and all the information i have i got from her. my granfather always denied his heritage so any help will do. There is not any powdrills on the Dawes commission. so I am really confused. I know for sure they lived in timpson, shelby co. any info would be appreciated. If my grandfather was born in 1912 and Grace she died at the age of 36. Grace was probably born around 1896 or 97. thanks brenda

September 11, 1836; Thomas Powdrill was granted 1,280 acres in Shelby County, Tx ... I believe you are correct about the Timpson area being part of the Powdrill family area. In ancestry.com; if you will do a search on Thomas Powdrill you will find all of the names that my family has. Your grandmother would have been born to one of Thomas Powdrill's grandsons I assume.
