Surnames: Powder, Blandion, Dion
Pierre Blandion(Dion) was born about 1811, the son of Black Powder and Marguerite Peyisiwop( Petit Couteau), that makes him the brother of Antoine Blandion and the half brother of Pierre Powder as well as the half brother of Big Bear. He died in the smallpox epidemic of 1870. He was married to Marguerite Newatem. They had the following children: Rosalie, Angelique, Anne, Catherine, Eve, Paul, Pierre, Augustin(Gustave), and Susanne. Gustave, a member of the Kehewin Band at Onion Lake, married Mary Mountain. They had the following children: Joseph Francis, Toussaint, Theresa, Madeleine, William, and Alphonse. I'm not sure if thats all the children. Joseph Francis married Elizabeth Cunningham, the daughter of James Cunningham and Mary Hodgson. They're children were: Margaret, Rosalie, Delima, Mary Valerie, and Marie Florence.

I've been reviewing this and what is known for certain is that Antoine and Pierre Blandion are the sons of a man known variously as Dionne, Blandion, perhaps Blanc-Dion, and Wabasca or Wabiska. The question is whether this man is the same person as the Ojibwa chief Black Powder. I was unable to find any primary source stating that he was, so I tried a Y dna test. The paternal line of Antoine Blandion comes out as European rather than Native American so probably no relation to Black Powder or Big Bear.

lol Brenda...I was gonna ask if you've been on ancestry yet...are you getting green leafs from my family tree?...I often wonder who all can get hints from my tree. Are you needing info on anyone?...now I do know there is a Zachary Powder alive up north...gonna check him out. As you can see on face book I use my grandmothers name Skychild Powder...my real name is Leandra...but everyone still calls me Lulu...you can use either one. I have copies of Robert Bews HBC documents...I still need to scan them...when I do you can add it to your tree...happy digging Brenda!
