Hi, I am looking for any information on Daniel Poucher born Co. Suffolk 1811. Died July 10, 1863 in Pickering Ontario. He married Mary Ann Wynne born Co. Hereford 1822. Died Jan 31, 1891 in Pickering [father John Wynne]. They came to Canada in 1832. I can't find any information about them before 1851 in Pickering.
Children: Thomas, George, John, Hannah, Ann, Eliza, Daniel, William, Alice and Maurice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Daniel's son Maurice was my great grandfather. You will find Daniel's grave in a small cemetery on the north side of Hwy 7 near Green River in Pickering. I have not been to the cemetery for a few years, but I think the marker has been broken. However, there is a copy of the inscription online if you google Pickering cemeteries. We don't know very much about Daniel. He died before Maurice was born. According to a book (1911) by R. Wood entitled "Past Years in Pickering", Daniel and Mary Wynne Poucher came to Canada in 1832 and settled near Green River. Daniel was born in England but the Pouchers were originally a French Huguenot family. The family left France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685), one branch settled in North Carolina and the other in Norfolk, England. Daniel died on "the old homestead" in 1863 and Mary Wynne Poucher died in 1891 in Brougham. The Wynnes were of Welsh descent. After serving in the Napoleonic wars, John Wynne, "settled in Herefordshire and afterward came to Canada".

I hope some of this information is helpful. Please let me know if your search reveals more details.

Hi, Sorry I haven't answered you but I left Ancestry for the summer. I'm back. I am from their daughter Eliza Poucher. I have been and have pictures on my tree [Tomlinson Family Tree] of their gravesite in Green River [ yes, it has fallen over]. I have lots of information about some of their children but not Maurice [sorry]. No matter how hard I dig I can not find their birth or immigration records. Now I am back I'll try to dig somemore.
Best wishes, Judi

Hi
Just thought I would mention that I am decendant from Pouchers in Lincolnshire. I have my tree back to 1590 with Josephe Powcher. There are earlier records of Pouchers in Lincolnshire in the 1300's however this line died out.
