My daughter is married to James Anthony Posavad whose father's name was James. They are residents of Cleveland. I'll contact her and see if she can get any family information from her mother-in-law.

I'm very sorry to hear that. I suspect that, since the Uncle's name was Anthony and my son-in-law's name is James Anthony, they are of the same line. Beverly (my daughter) and Jamey have been married for 3 years, and dated for nearly 3 years before that, and at no time have I heard anything mentioned about other family members, or even a grandfather/grandmother. Contact me through my e-mail: consanepic@catsi.net.ph and we'll keep in touch. I have already asked Bev to see what she can find out.

Here is what I have found out - not much, but at least it's a start:

my daughter's husband: James Anthony Posavad
Jamey's father: James Joseph Posavad (died June or July, 2001)
Jin's father: Anthony (only name known)
The family doesn't really know any thing else except that Anthony married a Croatian woman.

I will be spending a week in Cleveland in late May. If you will send me your e-mail address, I'll see what I can find out. My daughter is a real novice at this sort of thing, and would have no clue as to where to start looking.

My grandfather was also Joseph Posavad, emigrated from Yugoslavia with his family in the 1930's ('37?) to settle around Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. He died in 1978 at age 84.
Perhaps our grandfathers were cousins...

I would like to know more about your family. My husbands grandfather was Joseph Posavad and came from Yougoslavia also. He had a wife Anna Vondrachek and they had8 children. We know there is family in Canada. My husband and his cousin Stephia remember coming to Canada to visit.

Larry maybe you can help me. I have found where Anna Pasavad and three children came to this country and where she became a citizen but i can't find where or when Joseph came. I was at a family birthday party Sat in Cleveland and I was surprised that no one knows when or where Joseph came to this country. It was suggested that maybe he came in through Canada as he was a sickly person and maybe he couldn't come through Ellis Island as most people did then. As your family lives there, were wnoderinf if maybe he came there first. Any suggestions? Can you ask around your family and see if any there might have any ideas for me where I might look up there for him.
