Posan surname - emigrated from Hungary about 1913-1914
"Posanke" is closest surname I've seen to "Posan" a name that was possibly changed at time of immigration to the U.S., 1913 -1914. Does anyone have any information about this sur name in or around Budapest, Hungary?

Thank you emopos for this information! I obtained a scanned copy of my father's(George Posan) baptism record from the Byzantine Catholic parish his parents helped build when they emigrated to the U.S. from Hungary. The writing is difficult to read, however it lists what looked to be "Nyirinad" and "Nyiradony" as the locales my grandparents came from. Probably the "Nyirinad" is "Nyiracsad". Your information is very helpful, as I'm sure this is my family's origin given what you posted here. This is exciting as I'm able to search further now. Thanks.

I may have further confirmation that Nyriacsad is where my family came from. My uncle John married Jeanette Katona, and the families knew each other where they lived in Ohio - possibly knew each other prior to emigration, too. John and Jeanette's children are my first cousins. Thanks again for this information.
