Humphrey and Nathaniel Pope Researchers - Help Needed

Classification: Query
Surnames: Pope, Hawkins, Kirby
I am at a brick wall and need help. After months of not being able to find records or leads as to the parents of Bennett Pope (c.1750-c.1798), I have turned to AncestryDNA for possible clues. This is what I've found...

The majority of my AncestryDNA matches having the surname POPE in their pedigrees are split between being descended from (1) Humphrey and Elizabeth (Hawkins) Pope, and (2) LTC Nathaniel and Luce (?) Pope.

It is my theory that my paternal line descends from Humphrey Pope. This theory is based in the facts that (1) I have a 2nd great grand uncle whose name is Thomas CURBY Pope and (2) a 2nd great granddaughter of Humphrey named Lovicey Tolleson married a Richard KIRBY.

Additionally, my 5th great grandfather Bennett Pope had a grandson named KIRBY R. Pope and a 2nd great grandson named KIRBY Ray Pope.

This suggests to me that Bennett may have married a Kirby, or that he may be immediately descended from a union between a Pope and a Kirby.

I read in a William and Mary Quarterly that Humphrey Pope III, grandson of Humphrey and Elizabeth (Hawkins) Pope, married a Sarah Pope, believed to be a daughter of Nathaniel Pope, son of Nathaniel "Bridges" and Jane (Browne) Pope. It is my theory that my line may descend from this union, considering that I have so many AncestryDNA matches from both Pope families. Unfortunately for me, I have been completely unable to locate any information on the descendants of Humphrey and Sarah (Pope) Pope.

As it stands right now, I have 19 AncestryDNA matches that descend from Humphrey Pope, and I have 37 matches claiming descent from LTC Nathaniel Pope. (Note that I have not yet gone through and verified that their claimed lines of descent are correct).

If anyone can give me any suggestions, tips, info... whatever, I would certainly appreciate it.
