Hello! I just got married this May to Brian John Popa. He is from CA but his father was born in S. Milwaukee, WI. His name is Adrian Edmund and his father's name is Damascus. Damascus' birth place is unknown and my father-in-law doesn't know his grandparent's names. I would think that they will be related to the Popa's in WI.

I would appreciate guidance in this search for the genealogy of my new family. I believe that they are German, Polish or Romanian.

My grandmother's family is Popa, from Milwaulkee (Poland before that). My grandmother had a brother named Damascus, but he was known as Uncle Dan by my mother. He married Catherine, known as "Cass," and they both ended up in KY. If this is not correct, your Damascus could have been a nephew of this Damascus. The Popa's liked to name their children after brothers & sisters. I'll have to check my tree, but I believe a couple of the brothers (there were 13 siblings total, but a couple died as children & a couple more as young adults) moved to CA.

Do you have a birthdate for your father-in-law?

I just confirmed with my mom--this is the right family :) She said her Uncle Dan's son is Adrian Edmund! I'm hoping you get this message, because I'd love to share the tree with you.
