I am looking for more information about William N. Pooley who resided in NYC and Sag Harbor, NY.

From what I understand, he was a real estate broker who worked in the city, had a home in NYC but also a home in Sag Harbor out on Long Island. He went missing February 27, 1901 from Sag Harbor and was found May 2, 1901 when his body was pulled from the Harlem River. He had a wife whose name I cannot determine and he had at least one son per the attached Newspapers articles. Apparently his son had been in some legal troubles and was sent to an institution. William N Pooley was apparently upset about that and his business. The articles state his brother was Dr. Thomas R Pooley, a well known eye doctor at the time.

Research into my Pooleys led me here due to a family rumor about my 2x great grandfather, living between NY and Sag Harbor being murdered. My 1x great grandfather William Pooley is listed in the 1900 census at The NY House of Refuge. That kind of fits the background of the dead Pooley however working from myself backwards I cannot get past my 1x great grandfather and find no info on his parents. I tried starting with William N. Pooley and Dr. Thomas R Pooley and determined they are sons of James Henry Pooley (1811-1890) and Anne Rickett (abt 1910). I have been able to find all of their extended family however when I got to William, again I'm with nothing.

Does this story ring a bell to anyone researching their Pooley families?
