I am looking for information on August Ponath. I know that he died abt. 1880 in Pommerania, North Prussia. I am looking for information also on his wife. She immigrated to here abt. 1885 with her son Albert Ponath and a daughter. Another daugter proceeded them here. The settled in Algoma, Wisconsin. The Wife of August settled in Milwuakee, WI and died there in Sept. 1901.

I would like to know the name of August's wife and children's names. Also if he had any more children. If anyone can help me I would be appreciated. Thankyou!

This August Ponath Died in Germany in about 1880. His wife did come over with the rest of the family and settled in Algoma, WI. I know also that his wife move down to Milwaukee, WI because that is where she passed away around 1901. I don't know if August had any brothers or not, I unfortunately don't know his wife name either. They were my GGG Grand parents. I do know that there is a strong possiblilty that we could be related. Most of my luck with the name Ponath in Wisconsin has turned out to be a relative. If you know of any other Ponaths in WI. I might be able to tell you more.

My August Emmigrated to the US in 1882 with his mom, Whilahemina. His father came over but was sent back to Germany because he did not enter the country legally. Some of the records say that his name was Christian. I do know more about my August if you are interested.

You know what. It could be the same August. I had a suspicion that his wifes name was Whilhelmina. The only Info that I have is from the "Let's get aquainted Index" of the Algoma Record-Herald. It tells just a little bit. My GG grandfather Albert Ponath was born on Oct. 15, 1870. Is says that his dad August died when he was 10 years old. It then says five years after that that he immigrated to the United States. Now ofcoarse this is the account of Albert himself at 74 years old. So he could have been off on the dates. We might have the same August. I know also that August had al least two daughters. Let me know if this sounds familiar.
Also I would love to hear more about the August Ponath that you have. My Email is justin.a.behn@csun.edu

Maybe you can help. My grandfather's "relation" Otto F Ponath was born around that time. He was born September 13/5, 1880 somewhere in Germany. He passed away in Puyallup, Washington on Feb. 23, 1964. That's all I have, except some sketchy information as to him being a relation of my grandfather, James Charles Finnie.

All I know about August Ponath is that his Mother's name was Whilhemina and his father's name was Christian. Mother died in Wisconsin and father, I was told was sent back to Germany because he did not have a passport. I do know that August had a brother name Herman which was my g-grandfather.
