CHAZY LANDING — Robert "Bob" Pombrio of 1684 Lake Shore Road died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000 at Fletcher Allen Hospital at the age of 78.

Bob was born on May 2, 1922, the son of Leeward and Emma (Dragoon) Pombrio of Sciota.

In the course of his lifetime Bob pursued many ventures. He worked for Irona Milk Haulers, the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Hutchinson Pontiac and Tripp TV in Dannemora. He owned and operated Pombrio Trucking and Leasing in Chazy for many years. Bob was a generous man with a sharp wit.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, the former Betty (Harvey) Phaneuf of Chazy; six children, Marvin and his wife Judy Pombrio of Chazy, Sherry and her husband Bruce Scofield of Milton, Vt., Bruce and his wife Brenda Phaneuf of West Chazy, Emy Lee Pombrio of Plattsburgh, Sheen and his wife Lora Pombrio of Chazy, and Shawn Pombrio of Chazy; his sisters and brothers, Helene and her husband Willard Kellett of Bradenton, Fla., William and his wife Bertha Pombrio of Dannemora; Sherman and his wife Shirley Pombrio of Sciota and Verda LaTourneau of Chazy; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ethel Harvey of Lockport, Naomi Harvey of Rouses Point, Charles and his wife Jackie Harvey of Champlain; four grandsons; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Marshall Pombrio and his sister, Dorothy Pombrio.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday at a time to be announced at Sacred Heart Church. Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.
