The Portuguese name of your grand father, probaly: Joao Francisco DA SILVEIRA Pombo.("del" its Spanish and Silvira is not good Portuguese). Today a friend give me this information: Maria - borned in 9/9/1742 - S.Roque do Pico.Father - Antonio Ferreira Pombo e Mother- Maria Vieira. - S.Roque its a little village in Pico Island. In front of S.Jorge Island. Now the Pombo name only from Corvo is not true...

I have forwarded your information on to my father-in-law's half brother Gilbert. I have a family tree that my sister-in-law gave me. I do not know how it was documented. The rest is word of mouth from my Father-in-law. He died in 1998. Please email me so we can continue.

Silvera is also part of my ancestry in addition to the islands you mentioned. There is also a Joao in the paperwork, I can't remember who he is....I'll go back and check.

I do have verified documentation on the Pombo family, which immigrated to U.S. in the early 1900's. We just received some translated documents and some of the information that you have does look familiar as far as names and places.
