June, my great grandfather was Joseph Pomajzl. On my grandfathers baptismal certificate it had a handwritten notation that his father was born in Malešov, Bohemia. According to 1910 census he was born about 1866 and came to the US in 1894. All of his children then changed name to POMEISL (thought it sounded more American). After reading your note I am starting to wonder if Joseph was not the older brother of your great grandmother. If you want to contact me to discuss this I would be more than happy to!

P.S. Note also stated Josephs wife was Frances Hunt of Throv, Bohemia

P.S.S. Mapquest.com shows 2 Malesovs in Bohemia (Czech Republic). One north of Prague, on east. Do you know which one your great grandmother was from?

June, guess I got too exicted reading your post. It would seem that Joseph would most likely not be your great grandmoms brother. However he does appear to have the same name and is from the same town and born in same time period. So if you want to discuss we still might be able to connect these two. Thanks.

My name is Linda Miller and I am researching my husband's Pomazal roots. My husband's great grandparents were Anton and Antonia Pomazal. Anton's son Frank was his grandfather and his daughter Josephine is my mother-in-law. According to family history, Anton and Antonia came to America in 1880 on the SS Hermann. I have not been able to find out their ancestry in Bohemia.

Would enjoy hearing from you.

Hello...I am a direct descendant of a Mary Magdoline Pomazal who came to US in mid 1800's from Bohemia. From what I have learned so far she is probably a sister to Anton...any help would be appreciated...Denise...faery-rose@hotmail.com

My name is Denise and I am a descendant of Mary Magdolin Pomazal m James Taraba. She had a brother Anton and they lived in Chicago for a time before moving and settling in Mauston Wisconsin. They later moved to Bethany Missouri. I would love to be able to find out more about other relatives. Thank you ...Denise Hunt

I am not sure if your account even exist. My spouse is related to Anton Pomazal. He is one of the three Pomazal brothers that came over from Czech. I know it has been 13 years since your original thread but I was wondering if you had information on Anton's parents and grandparents? Do you know what area they were from in Czech?
