Bonjour to all,

In my research since 1982, all the above mentioned family names that I have found so far all come down from the Brault dit Pominville line that originated from France, came to the province of Quebec in the 17th century where most of them stayed and a small portion moved to USA (mostly out west).

Most of the family members kept the name as Brault but a small portion kept the name Pommainville/Pominville/Pomaville.

If you need any help, feel free to contact me at:

Bonjour Robert,
I'm not really quite sure as to how far forward you have gone in your research but I would definately appreciate it, if you could share any information, if you have it, on my family's line. My great-Grandfather would be David Pomaville. I believe he would have been born in the mid to late, 1800's. He ended up in the Detroit area and bore at least 12 children. He had 2 wives, the first died shortly after giving birth, and he then remarried in the early 1900's. If you need any more verification, please ask. I'd be happy to share what i know with you. JS

John,

I too am researching the Pominville line and found a David PUMAVILLE in the LDS site:
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp

This David is age 1 in the 1880 Michigan Census, son of Maxeime and Mary Pumaville.

I happened to discover this surname spelling (Pumaville) last year and it unlocked a few doors for me. Beck

I wonder if that may just be a mis-spelling of Pomaville or a previous form as that is the first name for my granfather's father, David. My grandfather's middle name is similar to Maxieme. Thank-you for sharing your find. JS

Bonjour John,

The Pomavilles I have in my database are from the Brault dit Pominville line that emerges from the province of Quebec. I have about 5000 validated people in that database.

I checked for David but have only two at the moment, but they were born in the 1950's so too young for your line. Would you have wives' names ?

Au revoir,

I am in Detroit where my father came when he immigrated to the US. He was born in the outskirts of Montebello, Quebec,Canada in 1906. He was one of 11 children but the only one to come to the US.I do not have any contact with any of my relatives and most are deceased from his era to give me any information as far as ancestry. I would like any information possible that anyone has.

Dave-

It would help others to know more about your line, in order for them to be able to share with you. Any additional information such as names and dates would be the most helpful. Also, what version of the Pominville name did or does, your family currently use? There are many variations currently in use and even more versions that were in use before the spellings became standardized.

Good Luck & SISU!
