This is my Grandfather. Born 12/13/07. Died 9/67. I belive he was born in Detroit area, maybe lake St Claire area. He married Estelle Norman and they had 6 children; Bruce, a daughter that died at birth, Gloria, Michael, John and Donald. If anyone can help trace this line back, please e-mail me. Any help would be grateful.

My grandfather was Donald Pomaville
The Pomaville family tree has been traced back to the 14th century France by a priest in the family. Our ancestors came over to French Canada and then into Michigan with Cadillac. My grandfather was Donald Pomaville. He was the youngest of 5 or 6. I believe his father also came from a large family. It is my understanding that all the Pomaville's are related.

still searching for Henry Maximillian Pomaville
Cheryl-Thanks for your reply. I know that much about the Pomaville family also but not much more. I'm trying to trace my line, which your's may be a part of but not directly I think. My Grandfather's family was extremly large in the Detroit area and in fact the name David Pomaville is still quite prominent in that area. If you have any information on that line I'd love to hear more. I had conversed with a Monica Pomaville but have since lost contact. She mentioned a book that had been produced on the Pomaville family but when I tried to set up arrangements to find out more, the trail had gone cold. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated.

I have my doubts about ancestry that go beyond the 16th century except for nobles, because there was no church registers prior to 1582.
I am interested in the line of ancestry that goes to french Canada because I have Pomainville's in Quebec and would like to see if they match your line.

My husband is a Pomaville from the Detroit area. His father, Alfonso Pomaville came from a family of 12. Alfonso's dad came through Canada. He was born 8/1920 and pasted away in 1967. He had a brother named David Pomaville, who has since passed, sometime before 1967. He was the orginal owner of Pomaville & Sons Roofing Co. in Detroit. I have been trying to research his family. None of my husband's aunts and uncles on that side are still alive. The Pomaville family owned a great deal of Macomb County, MI. Which was later given back for taxes. The area was known as the Pomaville Farm. I hope some of this helps you and maybe you can he me find his family tree. They seemed to spread out all over the state. I was once told that all the Pomaville's are somehow related. Let me know if I can help any more. Sincerely, Kristine

Re: Henry Maximillian Pomaville son of David
Hello Kristine- I'm sure this is the same family that I'm seeking info on. There are a couple of facts that you state that I'd like to question. My grandfather, Henry(Hank), had a younger brother named, Alfred. Could your name possibly be a mistake? Also, my grandfather's oldest brother was, David Jr., named after his father David, whom started Pomaville Roofing in Detroit. I'm not too clear on the date of birth, 8/1920, you provided. Who does that pertain to? Other brothers and sisters of my grandfather were; Oscar, Raymond, Victor, Floyd, Madelaine and Alice. There is more but my Mom, my source, seems to not remember the other names. Please feel free to e-mail me personally if you'd like to share some more as I do have some more info. JS

Re: David Pomaville ~ How to start your search
Bonjour Kristine,
Your Alfonso Pomaville might be related to the Brault dit Pominville line. Try to find documents to help in your search: death/burial certificate or marriage certificate on wich his parents might be identified. Same thing for David Pomaville, try to find the same documents. Another source would be to check the town phone books for the company (Pomaville & Sons Roofing) from wich you could get an address and from that find out where the catholic church close to them was and maybe find births there ?

Alfonso Pomaville, who later changed his name to Alfred is David Pomaville's, of Pomaville and Son's Roofing, younger brother. Alfred is my husband's late father.

More info necessary - re: David Pomaville uncle of Alexander Pomaville
Bonsoir David,
Try to find informations on the marriages of Alexander M. Pomaville and also the uncle David Pomaville: dates and places of marriages, names of brides, names of groom parents, etc ... This might help me help you retrace your lineage.
