The search is finally over! We have confirmed that almost all POMALES in PR descend from a Spanish soldier, from Ciudad Velezmalaga, Malaga, who married in San Juan in 1742. JUAN POMAR de la GUARDIA married JUANA HERNANDEZ RIVERA. We have traced 3 of their children: JUAN, MANUEL and DIONISIO but there are more to be identified. Juan and Manuel's descendants moved to Juncos/Las Piedras and later to Guayama. DIONISIO's descendants moved to Naguabo and neighboring towns.

A few years ago I had provided you with my grandmother's name, Fidela Pomales Bonilla (married to Olimpio Santiago). At the time you had no record of her in your Pomales history. Have you been able to link her to anyone since then?

It makes plenty of sense, because my mother has told me many times that my great-grandfather was a descendant "de españoles". The Pomales in my family are those who settled in Fajardo's Penón and Paraíso areas, near the town lines with Ceiba and Nagüabo. And she also told me that my great-aunt and great-uncle were both blond and blue-eyed, something of which there's just a little bit in my abuelita - and shows on my daughters in spades.

Hi Ana,

I just left a message for you on another site and your email didn't work. Hopefully this one does. I wanted to correspond with you to see if we have any connection. My 4th great grandfather was Juan Pomar (other variations I find of how last name is spelled Pomal, Poman and Pomales). He was married to Dionisia Ramos. I first find them in Bayamon in the late 1700's. Then in Las Pierdras and Juncos thereafter. Below are his descendants that are connected to me. If you have any connection please contact me.

1. Francisca Poman Ramos married to Nicolas Algarin Reyes - 3rd great
2. Faustina Algarin Pomales married to Antonio Carrasquillo Rivera - 2nd great
3. Eraclio Carrasquillo Algarin married to Leocadia Castro Rodriguez - great grand
4. Francisco Carrasquillo Castro married to Juana Castro Melendez - paternal grandparents

All the best,
Juanita

I did not have Juana Hernandez last name nor their marriage date.

Hi my name is Carmen Pomales. I belong to the line that comes from Naguabo, PR. I would love to have the picture of Juan Navarro Pomales. I would also like to share information on the Pomales tree. I am writing a book and I have most of Naguabo done. I have some from Guayama, and a little from Gurabo. I have above 2,000 names and I have them all linked to Santiago Pomar.

God Bless, Awaiting your response.
