I am looking for ancestors and family members of my former wife's Great Grandmother.

Rose Polizzi (8 Dec 1894/1895 - 1971) came to America in about 1919 and was born in Italy. In 1930, she was married in about 1920 to Salvatore "Sam" Torchia (26 Oct 1889-7 Dec 1957)and was living in LaSalle, Illinois. Salvatore was from the Parco, Italy area (today known as the island of Sicily). Both Sam and Rose are buried in the St. Vincent's Cemetery in LaSalle, Illinois.

I have very little else to go on. Family members have helped to identify the following information:

Father: Unknown
Mother: Mertily
Siblings: Joe (1897-?), Frank, Rosale, Sam

Joe married Petrina (a 1903-?) and they had 8 children:
Mary, Josie (1927-), Carmolina (1928-?), Joe (1929-?), Nino (a 1936-?), Peter (a 1940-?), Isabelle (a 1941-?) and James (1944-?)

If anyone can make a connection, please help me identify her parentage.

Hi! My mom and I are so excited to hear back from you. I began looking for information about my fathers (Joseph/Joey Minerva)family after many debates and conversations about grandfathers parents. There are some family stories about my grandfather having been adopted, though nobody knows that for sure.
In any case, my grandmother, Clara Paolise (lots of different spellings), was the biological daughter of John (Giovanni) Paolise and his first wife Filomena (Flamida/Famiglia?). Clara Paolise married Raffaele Minerva. They are my grandparents on my dad's side (Joey). They had 5 children: Otto, John, Carmela, Ralph and Joseph. I don't know when Otto died but unfortuately all the siblings have since passed away. Ralph died in 1986. Carmela died in 1995. My dad (Joey) died in 1996. John died in 1997.
Last I heard Jerry was still alive and living in Florida (that's Clara's brother). All the rest I believe are deceased.
I just started this process so any information you have about the family would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for getting back to me.

hello and thanks for replying. I have been researching the Patalano family for 11 years now. My great grandmother was Maria Antonia Patalano who married Vincenzo Trani. Maria had a sister named Angelina Patalano who married Giovanni Polici (not sure how the surname is spelled). Angelina would be your great grandmother. I wonder if you know anything about her? I have a great deal of information about the Patalano family in Ischia (an island in the Bay of Naples).
My grandmother, Josephine (Trani) Campanile, was a daughter of Maria Antonia Patalano and Vincenzo Trani. I remember her talking about Ischia and that is what led me to start researching the family tree.
Only Maria Antonia and Angelina emigrated to the US as far as I can make out. All their other brothers and sisters stayed in Ischia.
Maria Antonia arrived in 1908 with her children to join up with her husband who had already emigrated. Angelina arrived in 1910.
I now live in London England, though I was born and raised in NYC. All my family are still in NY and NJ.
There is a lot more I can tell you, if you are interested.

Polizzi and Conforto

I am researching my great-grandfather Giuseppe Polizzi from Agira,Sicily,Italy. He arrived in 1903 and per the manifest he stayed with his cousin Vincenzo Conforto at 95 Orange in Cleveland, Ohio.

I am trying to find the connection.

Vincenzo Conforto married Vincenza "Jennie" Rundo. Vincenza "Jennie" Rundo is the sister to Calogero Rundo (my other great-grandfather). Well Calogero Rundo married (1st wife) Grazia Polizzi. Now per Calogero Rundo's manifest 1903 it states he stayed with his brother-in-law Conforto at 95 Orange in Cleveland, Ohio.

I can't find anyone from the Polizzi family marrying a Conforto, only a Rundo. Now since a Rundo married a Polizzi would this be the cousin connection?

Any other information would be appreciated.

About 2 years ago I started doing my lines and I think that you and I spoke via email about my TERESA VENEZIANO from Tursi.
TERESA married ANTONIO CORRADO you told me they were married on 10-8-1888. If you are the same wonderful person who's book has Teresa and Antonio Corrado married on OCT. 8th, 1888. This book also says that Teresa is the daughter of NICOLA vENEZIANO AND NIRGISSIA (sp?) RASCETTA.

I spoke to a woman in the beginning who was so nice to me. She told me if I ever proved that my Teresa was the daughter of Nicola that we were connected and you had the line all the way back to 1622.

I have discovered that these were her parents!!!

The father is NICOLA VENEZIANO and
The mother is actually VIRGINIA BASCETTA

I met with the CANTARELLA's from TUrsi last month when they came to NY and they have given me some more info. I am hoping you are the same woman and that you remember me. I have information on the siblings of Teresa too.

My grandfather was from Borghetto Sicily. He name is Salvatore Polizzi and immigrated here around 1905 as an infant. His family first lived in Missouri. I don't remember his parent's names but his mother's maiden name I believe was Taormina. I can look up their names. He went by Sam and is who I'm named after. We may be related.

santo,hi,my dad george e nero was married to a madeline(lavard)nero in rochester,ny in 1924.she was my dads first wife.they ended thier marriage somewhere before 1936.he then married my mom elizabeth currier.i dont know of any siblings born to george and madeline but did hear somewhere that that had a daughter who was confined to a wheelchair.my dad was born in 1896 in pt, byron ny.our family name was changed fron nero to nerau in 1943.trying to find any info on madeline and george.thanks vic(nero)nerau.

My greatgrandmothers name is Giulia (julia) polizzi b. 1881, she married Vinzenzo (james) Caruso in 1906 (when she immigrated to the US), she had a brother named Filipo (philip) Polizzi who married Rosaria Livigni. I have a Jack or John Proscia from Brooklyn in the 1970s and I'm trying to find a possible family connection. I believe his
family was from southern Italy. He passed away in May of 1975.

My mother is Angela Rosa Veneziano: her father, Angelo, came from Siculiana and in '50's settled in Rome; he had a brother, Gerlando, who went to U.S. in '20's and their parents were Giuseppe and Angelina Indelicato. So, it seems that you and my mother are cousins!
My mother asked me to try to get some more information about the american branch of her family, so I hope to have some reply.....
