My name is Robert Pollack (born Robert Polack) and I am seeking information concerning my family tree.

My great-grandfather, Jose Polack (I think he must have been born Joseph/Yosef Polack/Pollack) was born in 1888. I believe that he was born in Russia (perhaps in the Ukraine?) and moved to Argentina as a child. In Argentina he married Cecilia Flomenbaum.

His siblings were Abraham Polack, Jacobo Polack, Miguel Polack, and Ida Polack. I do not know if they were born in Argentina or Russia.

Abraham had children named Samuel, Abraham, and Adolfo.

Jacobo had children named Leivi, Marcos, Bernardo, Aida, Guillermo, Berta, Paulina, and Estella.

Ida married a D. Glasserman and had children named Samuel, Bernardo, Isaac, Guiellermo, Eluser, Paulina, Anita, Adolfo, and Leon.

My great-great-grandfather -- the father of Jose, Abraham, Jacobo, Miguel, and Ida -- was Leon Polack. His wife was Golda Lea Glickman.

Leon's Hebrew name was Aryeh Leib (I know this only because Jose Polack's tombstone, in Hebrew characters, calls him the son of Aryeh Leib).

I do not know the history of the spelling of our surname, except that it was spelled 'Polack' in Argentina and became 'Pollack' in my immediate family in the United States. I suppose it might have been spelled 'Pollack' by family members outside of the Spanish-speaking world and that it might still be.

If you know anything about any of these Polacks or Pollacks, or any Polacks or Pollacks who might be related to them, please send me an email at rmpollack@hotmail.com.

Thank you very much.
