Hi I am searching for ancestors to my Grandfather Ronald William Polack approx 75yrs(aprox d.o.b.1928) I am supposedly 5th generation Jamaican, so obviously someone knows something I don't! Which would make Ronald's Grandfather Jamaican, Ronald has at least 1sister Pat, I am sure I will be able to get more informaton off relatives to exact births/deaths/marriages, My father Ross is 45 his birth date is 24.01.57 he has a sister Linda and a brother Murray and 2 daughters myself(20yrs) and my older sister Shaye(24), Any information regardless of how minute the similarities are would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Chantal,

I read your message. My mother is a Polack, and her father (my grandfather -- died in 1960s ) is also Jamaican. They emigrated from Jamaica during the early 20th century to Canada and this branch of the family settled in Sudbury Ontario. Apparently, some of the family moved to the USA and other Caribbean areas (this is hazy). My grandfather had one brother, but the family have lost trace of him.

Apparently, the family emigrated to Jamaica from Scotland during the early 19th century (after 1815). There is a great scottish clan, Pollock (also spelt: Pollok, Paulk, Polk etc) to which they may be associated, but this is unclear.

If you have any information about the original emigration to Jamaica, could you please contact me.

Thank you.
