I have some information on James Pola born in Brescia Italy. He moved to S.C. and there he had 3 children. The first one was born out of wedlock. He married Margaret Wilkie, sister to my Gr.Gr. grandfather William Wilkie. Would love to share info with anybody interested. However my information is very limited. Darlene Rice

I'm very interested in what information you have about James Pola of Spartanburg who married Margaret Wilkie. He is my great grandfather. I know he had a son James Bennett Pola and a baby daug. who died in infancy named Rosa Pola and father a child by Dolly Easter. I need documentation on Rosa's birth and death and James's father joseph Pola. I just found him on the 1850 census as being born in Switzerland and migrating to Italy, then to the US. It you have anything of help I would appreciate it.

Judith, I am really glad you emailed me. You must live some place in Europe? The time differance is alot different. I am in Californnia. Anyway, this is what I have. Not alot. I have come up against a brick wall. I went to South Carolina last spring and found the graves of Rosa Pola, Joseph Pola and Margaret Wilkie Pola. Took photos of all headstones. They were so old and somewhat hard to read. Also have plot numbers. I also have obituary for Rosa Pola, 1880 census,1900 census with James B. Pola,Deeds for James Pola Sr. and probate record for James Pola Sr.,death certificate for James Bennett Pola,Obituary for James Bennett Pola. Let me know what you want and I will make copies and snail mail them. If you have anything that I do not have I would really appreciate copies. Especiially the copy of the 1850 census. Do you have any idea when James and Joseph came to United States? I am assuming that Josephs wife did not come with them? I do not know if it has been as much of a dead end for you as it has for me. But it sure has been frustrating. HOw exactly are you descended from James Pola Sr.? Perhaps through one of James Bennet Pola and Mattie Sharp children? I am through James and Dollies illigetimate child Mattie Easter. Will be looking forward to hearing from you. Darlene

May you please send some more information about the Wilkies on your fathers side. I have found out that I am related to some Wilkes that came to America when Kaiser Whihelm was in power in Germany.
