My great grandfather was Juan Cuevas Pol. He married Carmen Segarra; therefore my grandmother's birth name is Maria Gregoria Cuevas Pol. She is 90 years old, born in La Torre P.R. in 1910.(a section of Lares). My grandmother's siblings are as follows: Irma, Pura, Georgina, Clara, Felicita, Aurea, and Ramon. Most are deceased. My grandmother is the oldest. Maybe we are distant relatives. Do you have any other info. on the origin of the Pol name? I had heard it was short for Polanco or Polanca, but this might not be factal. Keep up the search.

I just found out that my great-grandfather Juan Cuevas Pol was the son or grandson of a Spaniard Pol that was disinherited for marrying a poor woman. I don't know if that is what prompted him to go to Puerto Rico or if that "marriage" occured in Puerto Rico. The facts are vague because so many have died. I'll keep up the search. Please let me know if any of this sound familiar.

Hi, We are probably related. Your Grandmother's name should be Maria G. Cuevas Segarra. Not Cuevas Pol. She should have used her mothers maiden name not her grandmothers. If I find out anything I will let you know.
