POKELWALDT – Adelaide Schmeichel Pokelwaldt, 77, of 181 18th Ave., North Tonawanda, died Saturday (Apr. 13, 1957) in Meyer Memorial Hospital, Buffalo, after a long illness. Born in Germany, she resided in North Tonawanda for 71 years and was the wife of the late Herman Pokelwaldt. She is survived by two sons, Arthur of Eggertsville and Wilbert of North Tonawanda; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Black of North Tonawanda; three bothers, Adolph Weinke of Sanborn and John and Reinhardt Weinke of Bergholtz, and four sisters, Mrs. Edward Jagow of Niagara Falls, Mrs. Esther Moll and Mrs. Emma Haseley of Bergholtz and Mrs. Ella Eggert of Gasport. Seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Pokelwaldt was a member of St. Martin’s Church, North Tonawanda. Friends may call at the Wattengel Funeral Home, 307 Oliver St., where services will be at 2 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Arthur Hornish officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark’s Cemetery.
