Joseph Poje Sr. (grandfather)
I'm looking for information on any of my grandfather's ancestors: parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. His family immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900's I believe. Family info says he is of German decent. But he may have been born in Austria. Any info will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Did Joseph have sisters named Barbara and Agnes? What were Joseph's childrens names?

Joseph Poje (grandfather)
Hello there! I know for certain he had a sister named Angelina. She was married to a man named Lewis. His children are Edward, Bernard, William-(my father), Matilda, Bernice, and Joseph, Jr. The only ones still living are Bernice, and Joseph, Jr.

Teresa, I will check with my Mom for more info. I don't recognize any of the names but we are double related to the Poje's. Know that sounds strange but my my g grandmother on my fathers side was Barbara Poje - she married a Kriz. My g grandmother on my mother's side was Agnes Poje - she married a George Zagar. This happened in or near a village called Livold? in what is now Slovenia. Where did Joseph come from? I am awaiting more info from my Aunt who has done an extensive family tree - I should get it mid May when they visit... Meantime I will try to find out some dates If you want to e-mail me you can at MorganLJ@aol.com. Take care Vera

Hi Vera; Thanks for your reply. I don't recognize the names Barbara or Agnes. But I believe my grandfather was born in Lublanjia. (sp?) I'm not sure where my grandmother was born. Her maiden name was Jaclovic. (sp?) Mary Rose was her full name. I do know that she and my grandfather met here in the U.S. and married. When they first came to the U.S (early 1900's) they lived in Pennsylvania for awhile before moving to Kansas City, Ks. I'm not sure whose side of the family lived in Pa. Hers or his. Also, there was a family friend in Kansas City named Albert Poje, although he wasn't related to us. He was a lifelong bachelor. I hope this info helps. I look forward to hearing from you! Teresa

Teresa,
Sorry for the long wait on the reply from me - busy Easter holiday with the family. I should be receiving the info that my aunt has on the Poje's on May 8. My uncle is traveling here for a fishing vacation and will bring the family info my aunt has compiled. I am told it is 16 pages so maybe we can get more of an idea once I can pass on the Poje section to you. Found it quite humorous that your family had the friend Albert Poje who was a lifelong bachelor. Believe it or not we were related to an Albert Poje in New York, he had a sister Josephine. What is funny is that both Albert and Josephine were lifelong bachelor and bachelorett respectively. Take care if I get any more info before my Aunt's stuff I will write. Stay in touch.

Hi Vera, I meant to respond to your last posting long before now. Sorry about that. Life has been hectic. I seem to remember Albert having a sister who never married, but I can't be sure. Did you find out any new info about the Poje family? I'd love to hear about it! Hope to hear from you soon. Teresa

I saw your name on a genealogy web board. Are you searching for info on a Joseph or Josip Poje, b 1903?
