WILHELMINE POHLE (b 18 Aug 1831) Saxony to Illinois
Looking for town in Saxony and any other information on WILHELMINE POHLE (BOHLE, POLLIE, BOLLIE). Only have death records and US census records that indicate birth date and that she was from Saxony. The civil marriage records were destroyed in the 1871 Chicago fire. Churches in the area at that time had traveling ministers holding meetings in homes. Records are not available until 1866.
Wilhelmine POHLE (age 24) left Saxony for Illinois in 1855 on the Clio, departing from Bremen. It is believed she may have been traveling with Joh. MICHAELIS (age 18), relationship unknown. Seeking information on Johann MICHAELIS also.
Wilhelmine POHLE married Blasius SCHWER about 1856 in Blue Island Illinois. They were early settlers of Evergreen Park, Worth Township, Cook County, Illinois. Their children were Mary (1857), John D. (1858), Margaret (1859), Bertha (1861), Anna (1863), Daniel (1864), Frederick (1866), Friederike (1866), Wilhelmine (1872).

Re: WILHELMINE POHLE (b 18 Aug 1831) Saxony to Illinois
I wish I could be of help, as it may also help me locate my ggrandfather Hermann Pohle, b. 1831. Your Wilhelmine is about the same age, and from about the same location, coming to America about the same time. His citizenship application in 1856 in Philadelphia says he is from Oldenburg, which I believe was a part of Saxony. I don't have any ship record. He married in 1857 in St. Charles Co., Missouri, and raised his family there. There are still many with Pohle surname in St. Louis area, but haven't made a connection with any there either. Haven't found any records of parents or siblings, or records in Germany, so this is my brick wall.---Robert Pohle

I'm sorry that I cannot help, but as far as I have searched, my Pohle's are from Westphalia, Germany. My greatgrandmother came to America in 1884 and settled in Indiana and then moved to Nebraska.

Re: WILHELMINE POHLE (b 18 Aug 1831) Saxony to Illinois
My Pohle family members are from the Saxony area. The town was Hermsdorf. (However my great grandparents, Frederick William and Adeline Pohle did not emigrate from there until 1882.)

Re: WILHELMINE POHLE (b 18 Aug 1831) Saxony to Illinois
Good Morning, Elhop.
I do have a Frederick Wilhelm Pohle (b. 30 Mar 1852 in Germany). However, I do not have a spouse for him. My great grandmother, Anna Catharine Marie Pohle (b. 26 Jun 1857 in Duenne, Westphalia, Germany (Preussen)) and her husband, Carl Augustus Ludewig(Ludwig) Gestring (b. 02 Oct 1847 in Klosterbauerschaft, Westphalia, Germany) immigrated to the United States in 1881.
I wonder if there is a connection?
Sincerely,
Vicki Bremmer

Re: WILHELMINE POHLE (b 18 Aug 1831) Saxony to Illinois
My Gr Grandfather was Frederick Wilhelm (or William) Pohle from Hermsdorf, Germ. I have a DOB for him of 4/30/1858. That's close to your dates Frederick Wilhelm Pohle (FWP)and could possibly be the same as yours as date errors do occur. Here's a little more info on my FWP: -Immigrated in 1882 to Pennsylvania from Hermsdorf (in Saxony, Germ.) -Died 11/20/1920 in Penna. -Spouse: Adeline (Lena) Dorfer Pohle(Doerfer?)also frm Germ. -3 sons, 4 daughters: Fred, John (my g father),Curt, Alma (oldest and only one born in Germ.), Olga, Hilda and Anna -Possibly had a brother in US who "went west". -Maybe a sister Theresa in Penna. Do you have add'l data on your Frederick?
