Anyone there?

Yes.

My name is Annette Poggel, from Eslohe, a little village in Germany. My grand-grand-grand-grand-uncle Wilhelm left Eslohe in 1832, and died 1864 in New Albany Indiana.

More details about our place: www.forellenhof-poggel.de (small hotel). I`m interested in anytging about the familiy and my ancestors.

Bye for now

Annette

My maternal great grandfather was William H. Poggel. He was born about 1843 and died in 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Indiana (Floyd County - New Albany). His father was also named William and he was originally from Germany.

Dear joe,

Thanks for your answer...10 years ago. So your grand
grand grandfather was Wilhelm poggel, who left germany in 1832 or 1834. He died in New Albany. Do you have any further information, how many children Gertrud and Wilhelm had? I guess the oldest was William, died
1925 in Kentucky.

Gertrud and Wilhelm were my 4th great grandparents. (If you haven't seen their gravestone, it's here: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=71...).

I have the following listed as their children:
Johann Bernhard, b. 7 Feb 1835
Anna Elizabeth, b. 2 Aug 1837 (my 3rd great grandmother)
Joseph, b. 28 Apr 1840
Unknown, b. 1 Jun 1842
Franz Wilhelm, b. 30 Jul 1843
(All above born in Fretter, Westfalen, Preußen, Germany)
Anthony, b. abt 1848, Kentucky
Mary, b. abt 1851, Indiana
Thresa, b. abt 1853, Indiana

I had never seen when they came to America. So, I don't know about the dates of 1832 or 1834.

Anna Elizabeth married Henry Raymond.
Their daughter, Katie Raymond, married Henry Butcher.
Their son, Clifton Wilkes Butcher, married Flora Edith Benz.
Their son, Robert Henry Butcher, married Audrey Gay Perry.
Their daughter was my mother.

I'm pretty sure the above is accurate. I'd love to see more information that you have.

Thanks.
