WAPELLO, Iowa — Renee Jolene Pogemiller, 54, of Wapello, died Sunday, June 22, 2008, at her home.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the Grandview Community Bible Church in Grandview. Rev. Darryl Erickson will officiate. A private burial will be later Thursday at the Wapello Cemetery. A lunch will follow the service at the fellowship hall at the church following the service.
The family will meet friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral service Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the church. A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Rescue Unit and the Grandview Community Bible Church. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello is providing the care and arrangements for Renee Pogemiller.
Renee Pogemiller was born September 24, 1953, the daughter of Thomas and Jolene Keltner Pogemiller, Muscatine.
She graduated from Wapello High School in 1971 and received her bachelor’s from Northeast Missouri State University and her masters from Southwest Missouri State University. She was a speech therapist having taught in California and Missouri and recently as an assisted technology specialist with AEA No. 13 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
She had loved her dogs greatly and was active with the ASPCA. Upon returning to Wapello she had volunteered at the nursing home by reading to the residents.
She is survived by her parents, Tom and Jolene Pogemiller of Wapello; a brother, Randy Pogemiller and wife, Connie, of Iowa City; a niece, Sheila Davisson and husband, Peter, of Iowa City; a nephew, Michael Pogemiller and Julie Brown of Miami, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

WAPELLO, Iowa — Robert Wayne ‘Bob’ Pogemiller, 81, of Wapello, died Monday, September 21, 2009, at his home.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church, Wapello. Reverend Erv Smith will officiate. His body will be cremated. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, where family will meet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
‘Bob’ was born on March 23, 1928, in Morning Sun, the son of Donald McCloud and Mildred Fern Baird Pogemiller. He married Wanda Jean Grim on January 17, 1948, in Wapello.
He attended school in Morning Sun and then graduated from Wapello High School in 1945. He worked for a number of years for his father at the Wapello Locker Plant. He then worked for Standard Oil for a few years. He then managed the Coop petroleum products at the Farmers Elevator in Wapello until he retired in 1990. He notably was the first petroleum manager in Iowa to provide ethanol.
He was active in his community in many ways. Throughout the years he was a volunteer fireman, helped with little league, was a referee for basketball and football, helped in the Junior Chamber of Commerce, was a charter member of the Indian Hills Golf & Country Club where he ran a multi-year annual fundraiser for the men’s stag, served on the Wapello homecoming committee as president for several years, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Wapello, the Masonic Lodge No. 5 A.F. & A. M., the KAABA Shrine, and the State Bank of Wapello Board of Directors.
He was a lifelong sports enthusiast, himself being an outstanding baseball/softball player in his youth. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports. He was an avid fisherman in retirement who specialized in catching catfish. He enjoyed pheasant, deer, and turkey hunting and was known as an excellent marksman. Spring and summer found him growing flowers, tomatoes, and locating just about every mushroom in Louisa County. Driven by the desire to be a descent human being, he was a good friend to many.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Pogemiller of Wapello; a son, Rick Pogemiller and wife, Kay, of Bellevue; two daughters, Denise Whipple and husband, Jim, of Wapello, and Jayne McCulley of Muscatine; nine grandchildren, Clint, Matt, and Scott Pogemiller, Kimberley Rossiter, Allison Malandra, Lindsey Whipple, J.R. and Tanner McCulley; seven great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Tom Pogemiller and Jim Pogemiller both of Wapello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Wilda Wiley; and two brothers, Dwight and Jerry.
