I am looking for a Seaman 1st class Pogan who served with my dad on the USS Chester they were left behind in the boat pool when the Chester went out to sea in 1941. Think he was from New Jersey too.

That sounds like it was my dad, Charles "Gig" Pogan. Although I thought the ship he was on was the USS Audreneux. He unfortunately passed away on 12/4/91 at the age of 69 yrs. He was from Jersey City.
