Documentary films Germans from Russia
Apparently this society has many members
including Alf Poffenroth (84) years old
He says this documentary - His parents were among the first ones coming for the State of Washing ton in 1894 settling first just south of Calgary - then moving to Calgary.
Originalname is Pfaffenroth which means red priest or cardinal and comes from an abbey of the same name in Germany.
You can obtain this video for approximately $25.00 Cdn.
by calling Linda Elder 403-242-7383

Though everyone might be interested
Seems that the names of our grandparents are very familiar
if not the same - this goes for spouses as well. How bizarre
There are many many poffenroths still in the Calgary and farming the surrounding areas.

Just starting my long journey of tracking our tree
I can only go back 100 years but still working on more
:o)

Hi Arlene,

I know we are definately related. My mother (Connie), your aunt, passed away yesterday 31/1/03 after fighting breast cancer for almost 6 years.

I found this post while searching the net for information on her family.

I'd appreciate any information regarding the Poffenroth family tree.
