I looked up the history of the Kromms and many of those who emigrated to Yagodnaya Polyana in Russia on the invitation of the Tsarina were from Schotten, the same town my Kromms came from. Apparently there were economic problems due to the 100 Years' War that affected people near the border badly, causing a shortfall of jobs (there was also a poor harvest). This may have been the reason our Kromms decided to pack their bags and go separate ways. On Patrice Miller's website of Passenger Lists there are dozens of Kromms (often with similar names as they were an insular community using only a handful of Christian names). Hence our problem finding them! Kathy
