I just found the message you had about Elizabeth Poffenberger who was married to Henry Hoover. I've been looking for a connection of the Hoover's or Poffenberger's to the American Revolutionary War. There is a Daniel Poffenberger listed in the DAR Patriot index and I know Elizabeth's father was Daniel. The date of births conflict but the date of death is the same. Do you know of any connection of this family to the American Revolutionary War? Elias Hoover was my great, great grandfather. His grandson, Aaron Elias Hoover married Florence Rambo and their daughter Alyce was my mother. Thank you for any information you can send along...I've been searching for many months! My grandfather Aaron used to tell us a story about how one of his ancestors crossed the Delaware with Washington. Sincerely, Rebecca Ferree

I would love to learn the story of Christian Nicholas in Revolutionary War. I have taken my line back to Johan Georg Anna Marta (Stupf?), Johan Christian >>Johan Peter>>John>>Adam>>Joseph>>Roby.
Previously I did find information on a John Poffenberger who marched to Battle of North was taken prisoner at battle of Trois Rivieres, later released to come stateside again. All this with Gen. St. Clair. JN

#2: Jul 13 Millerstown Methodist Class Picnics
Millerstown Methodist Class Picnics
Tuesday, Jul 13, seemed to be made to order for the Adelphian Class of the Millerstown Methodist Church, when they had their annual picnic at the home of Mrs. Lottie Poffenberger, at her cottage on the beautiful Juniata River. Acting as a co-hostess this year was Mrs. Nora E. Moyer.
The afternoon was spent playing games and contests and socializing. At 6:00 o’clock the meal was served buffet style and of good food there seemed to be no end.
After the meal Mrs Reisinger held a short business meeting. Plans were discussed about accepting an invitation extended by Rev. and Mrs Merle Saxman to their home for another picnic in the near future. Transportation proving to be the main problem. This is being looked into by members and results will be reported later.
There were a few more contests. Some of the folks had brought some pictures taken years ago which caused a lot of merriment and happy memories. As the hour grew late the rather weary but happy guests departed.
Those in attendance were: Mr and Mrs Jay Reisinger, Mr and Mrs Chester Ulsh, Mr and Mrs Leroy Secrist, Mrs Emery Fry, Mrs Mae Crane, Mrs Alice Hopple, Mrs Myrtle Beacham, Mrs Jay Reed, Mrs Howard Johns, Mrs Mary Updegrove, Mrs Myra Russell, Mrs Mabel Dunn. Guests in attendance were: Rev. and Mrs David A. Downin, Laura Conner, Mrs Robert DeLancy, Mrs Florence Miller, Vickie Miller, Mrs Kathleen Ullery, Mrs Lottie Poffenberger, hostess and Mrs Nora Moyer, co-hostess.

The Nora E. Moyer referenced in this newspaper article was the sister of my grandmother... Ida M. (Gingrich) wife of Harold L. Gingrich.

The Moyer's were probably the best friends of my grandparents, John W. and Lottie Poffenberger. John died in St. Petersburg and his body was transported back to Harrisburg by train. He was probably visiting Harold and Nora at the time. I believe they went to St. Petersburg often to visit them. I have many photo's of the Moyers. I will gather them and send them by e-mail.
