I'm looking for proof of Christian Poffenbarger's parentage and birthdate. Adam Poffenbarger, who was undoubtedly Christian's father, married Honor (Oner) Dorsey on 7 Feb 1791 in Frederick Co., MD. Christian may have been born in 1793, in which case Oner is his mother. He died 5 Feb 1857 in Jefferson Co., IA. However, some other sources say he was born prior to the marriage, in which case Adam may have had a previous wife. Anyone who can try to find a birth record for Christian?? Thanks!

Kathy, I am a descendant of Wm Poffenbarger the 7th child of Honor and Adam. Your ancestor Christian was my Great Uncle. He married Mary Brandner and according to my research sired 13 children. Christian and William migrated to IL in 1839. My Great Grandfather stayed in IL and Christian continued after a while to IA. I would like to share data. If you would also like to share please e-mail me at donald.roberts1@worldnet.att.net

I cannot tie in Christian at this point, however I have Conrad (b1844)and his brother Johanne imm to us and Ill early 1800's from Germany (Father Lorenz) I have extensive and accurate data on Brandners back to 1600's Germany to Austria. Believe all Brandners in Ill are related, we just have to get back to Germany to connect the lines. Let me know if I can be of any help. Terry

My ancestor was Mary BranTner, rather than BranDner. Probably all related in some distant past, but don't want you to be wondering about recent missing links.

Dear Bob,

No I don't. I do not have any listings for that name or any one born in France. I have a Conrad Brandner that toured France for about 7 years in the middle 1800's, and an Elis Brandner asking to travel to Techlinburg (sp), Prussia in the early 1700's
and that is all. Sorry that I could not be of more help.

Terry

Bob, in case you haven't already seen it, Prussia is, and was, very distinct from Alsace-Lorraine, which has both German and French components, having been a part of each of those countries over the years.
Christian Brandner was my maternal grandfather, born Russia c. 1870, died Elgin, North Dakota, c. 1928. Hope you get this message. Regards, John Gallardo ggary1888@hotmail.com
