I am researching my line and have traced to my GGG Grandfather Riley POFF or sometimes referred to as James Riley POFF or PAUFF. Riley POFF received a land grant in 1839 in Warren County TN. He was married first to Nancy KIDD then to Milley LAUREY or LOWERY. He is believed to have been born in Virginia between 1805 and 1815. My GG Grandfather Alexander was his son born in 1870. Any information to help me trace Riley's line back would be appreciated.

James,
I noticed you are researching a Poff line in Middle Tennessee. I am writing to see if there is any possible connection to the Poff family I am researching. My great, great grandfather, John Floyd Poff, came from Virginia to Middle Tennessee in the late 1800's. I don't know why. There's a possibility there could have been some family already here. (I say here because I live in Middle TN) He was married to Julia Ann Vaughn. Have you ever heard of those names? He was born in 1861.
Any connection?

Porter's family is of interest to me. Most of what I have on it was collected at my sister-in-law's funeral.
My husband is from Claude's line. I'm still trying to figure out if all the siblings are whole or halves. Family thinks some are halves, but they don't know who.
I'm interested in sharing. Dee

I've just started researching the Poff family. My great grandmother was Louisa "Lucy" Ann Bell Poff. She is the youngest daughter of Riley and Milly Poff. Lucy married James Benjamin Reynolds in Coffee County, TN. I grew up there and my folks tell many stories of Granny Lucy. I'd love to have more information, if you don't mind sharing. Thanks for your time! Melissa Collins

I am researching Eans Poff, 1860 TN. His father was James Poff and mother was Sarah Jane Hatfield. He is shown on census 1870 and 1880 in Coffee County, TN living with William R. McDonald/McDaniel. In 1880 Elizabeth Poff b 1858 was living there also. Riley Poff and Milley Poff were neighbors in 1870. Would like to know connection between Eans and Elizabeth and the Riley Poff family. Thank you.
