CANAL WINCHESTER: William Spitler Poff, 87, of Canal Winchester, Ohio, passed on Monday, September 15, 2014 at Altercare of Canal Winchester.
Born on April 17, 1927 to the late Dwight L. and Mary Olive Poff, William was a graduate of Canal Winchester High School.
William was a renaissance man, working as a farmer his whole life and retiring from Anchor Hocking Glass Mold Shop, School Bus Driving and the Local Sheet Metal Union.
He was a pilot and was still actively flying last year. He sang country music throughout his life.
He is survived by his children: Dan (Sandy) Poff, Eileen (Jim) Giese, Barb (Tim) Scholl, and William S. Poff; step-children, Deborah Jones, Joseph (Mary) Selby, and Greg (Sharomon) Evans; 14 grandchildren and their families; brother, Ray (Sharon) Poff; sisters, Ann (Robert) Anderson and Mary Halley; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dear personal friend, Christopher (Sally) Delgrosso.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Gaie; siblings, Helen, Gene, and Jim; grandchildren, Chad Giese and Aaron Selby; step-daughter, Sheri Howard; and former wife, Ramona.
Friends may visit from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 W. Waterloo St., Canal Winchester, OH 43110, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
Interment at Forest Rose Cemetery in Lancaster, OH.
