Niki: I have lots of Williams and lots of Henrys, but no William Henry...the family was huge, about 13 kids born in the generation your Wm.Henry was, but I think I have them all down and none of them hits on the date you gave me. Probably in there someplace, but I don't know where and I have a LOT of Poff information I have looked thru. Good Hunting: Sue

My grandmother's family was Poff from Stone County, Arkansas. Her name was Barbara Mozelle Poff...married name Hannon. My great-grandfather was Franklin Monroe Poff. I was wondering if we are connected or if you have any info on my family. Also...I have never heard the story about Poff Mountain...where is it located?

Frank Poff was a half-brother to my grandad, Walter Jackson Poff. I would love to have more info on your Frank...I have lots of info on his half-siblings. Interestingly enough, my grandad, "Jake" they called him, also named one of his daughters Mozelle. My mom is that Mozelle's sister, Lorene. I don't know where Poff Mt. is, but I'll ask my mom if she knows. Write to me at sumoco@harborside.com.

Re: Poff family from Arkansas
Hi Jim
I'm a decendant of Charles Poff's brother, James. The info I have seen on Charles Poff is pretty sketchy. I have him as born about 1824 in TN to James and Elizabeth Bickle Poff. In 1840 Elizabeth Bickle Poff is living in Cannon County, TN as Elisabeth Poff - head of household 1 male 5-10 (James) 1 male 10-15 (Henry) 2 males 15-20 (Charles, John) 1 female 5-10 (Catherine) 1 female 10-15 (Sarah) 1 female 30-40 (Elizabeth)
In 1850 the family is in Coffee County, TN. Charles is listed as Charles Pauff and he and wife Martha along with children Elizabeth, William and John are living next door to Elizabeth Bickle Poff and two of her children. About 1855 Elizabeth Poff's father John Michael Bickle died and most of the remaining family joined Elizabeth's 2 brothers in Stone County, Arkansas. Charles enlisted first in Company G, 10th Arkansas Infantry where he served for a year, then enlisted in Company F, 8th Arkansas Cavalry on January 9, 1863. He was listed as present on muster roll April 30, 1863, which is the last record for him.
