I am looking for information on my ggrandmother, Anna Petersen Poehner. She was born 14 Feb 1852 in Denmark. She may have married a Gruder or Gruner in Germany and then immigrated to America and then Married John Poehner. They married in Crosstown Missouri. I would appreciate any information. Thanks Jenna

My Grandfather Henry Poehner came to America by himself in the 1880,s. He was on the ship SS Hapsburg by himself and was 27 years old. He was listed as a farmer. He settled in Cambria County Pennsylvania on a small farm outside of Johnstown PA. He married Adelia Schmidt and raised a family of five sons and three daughters. Adelia,s sister married a George Welch or Welsh who worked for the Westinghouse Company. This man George lived in Turtle Creek, PA. He had a son ,Shaun Poehner Welch (Welsh) ,who lived in the Davidsville - Somerset areas outside of Johnstown, PA. I am interested in any information about this family. My Poehner ancestry is traced back to the 1700,s.

Hi Charles, Anna Poehner is my Great Gr Grandmother. Her maiden name was Pedersen and she was from Denmark. She came to the United States before 29 Feb 1872, because that was when she married John P. Poehner my Great Gr Grandfather (born 1848) in Perry County, Missouri. They had nine children 7 sons and 2 daus. They were John Peter, John Philip, Friedrich K, George Peter, Mary Margarethe, Anna (my gr grandmother), Conrad John George, Edward Pankratius, and William John Poehner. I believe John P. Poehner was born in Bavaria, but do not have proof only word of mouth. They probably came to the US about 1850. Does any of this sound familiar to you. We may be related, but need to get back to Germany to see. Thanks for any help you can give. Jenna

Hi Charles! You have traced your branch of the Poehners back to the 1700s. That is great. With that much information we might be able to match up somewhere down the line. Are you from BAVARIA also? More info. please. Thanks, Diana
