I am researching all lines of this family, and nearly have the USA lines complete. I am certainly interested in any data or information on this family from Poland. Currently have the Polish lines traced to abt 1840. Please e-mail if you can assist this search, or request any information on this family. Other Polish families married into the Pobieglo's include WITKOS, NIEDELANKA, JANUS, WILGA, TYDOL, BANAS, PRZYBYCIEN, PISARSKI, MISIASZEK, GNIADY, NOGA, GALITZA, TOMASZEWSKI, ZAWALSKI

I am also researching the Witkos line. My husbands grandfather
Michael Witkos came to the U.S. in 1880 from Poland. Unfortunately
we are unable to determine from where in Poland. Michael settled in
Adams, Ma. for a time and had several children among them my husband's
father, Joseph.
Michael was married to a Susanna Twarog.
Thank you for any assistance.

Barbara-

Elizabeth Witkos was born 7 December 1930 in Massachusetts. I'm not sure who her parents were, perhaps Frank Witkos? She married Frank S. Pobieglo, and they have children today that live in Holland, Massachusetts.
This Witkos family immigrated from Poland, but I do not know exactly when. If I find anything else when researching, I will post it here, or if you send e-mail, I'll e-mail it to you.
Also, have you tried to obtain a Declaration of Intent for your ancestor, these are the papers to become a US Citizen. Nearly all immigrants filled them out at the Court houses at some point. I found my great-grandfathers, and this gave me his home town, which ship he traveled to the US on, etc. It is a valuable resource of information.

I am also researching the Misiaszek surname. I have been able to trace them to the Samocice and Boleslaw area in Poland. I have a Joannes Banas b. abt.1845 son of Gasperus Banas and Magdalena Misiaszek. Joannes married Theresa Misterka October 24, 1866. After the death of Theresa, Joannes married Maria Misiaszek b. abt.1858 daughter of Mathias Misiaszek and Catherina Lorek b.1830 and died November 28, 1882. I have 5 children born to Mathias Misiaszek and Catherina and they are: Michael, Martinus, Laurentius, Peter and Maria. I am researching Laurentius' decendants. Laurentius b.1852 was married to Maria Kulaga and they had 3 children: Franciscus, Joannes and Angela. I am researching Joannes Misiaszek b.1879 married Maria Kuza in 1907. Joannes immigrated in 1906 and settled in Rhode Island or MA returning to Poland with Maria and 2 children in 1911 or 1912. In 1914 he made a return trip to the States. If your Misiaszek's are from the same region in Poland there may be a link. I would like to hear from you.My e-mailaddress is:ibaransk@mediaone.net Irene.....

Hi Irene, I saw the name Theresa Misterka on your message. I am researching my Misterka family who was from the Boleslaw area. I take it from your wording that Theresa had no children? Do you know any other information on her? Perhaps parents or siblings? I really think she could be part of my family.

Thanks for your help. Paula

Hi Chris, Probably a long shot, but I am trying to match any information to my relative Mary (Noga) Dudek. Her first name is sometimes listed as Katherine. She married Joannus Dudek and they had a least one daughter abt 1880. Her name is Zofia Dudek-Misterka. Any matches?

Thanks for looking. Paula

Hi Paula, my Theresa Misterka was married to Joannes Banas in 1866. He married Maria Misiaszek in 1875. They were married in Samocice a distance of about 2 miles from Boleslaw. I do not know of any children that they may have had. The film contained births for 1892-1900. Theresa's parents were Joannes Misterka and Margaretha Swiatkowska. I hope this is of some help to you.

Good Luck, Irene

Hi Irene, very interesting info. My Grandfather's baptismal records show Franciscus and Catherina (husband Joannus) Swiatkowska as Godparents. I have assumed they were somehow related, but haven't connected them yet. Do you have any more info on your Swiatkowska's??

Thanks for looking. Paula

Glad to hear from you Paula. I am sorry that I don't have more information available on the Swiatkowski surname. The film was from Samocice, #1895995. It has births from 1892-1900, marriages 1858-1900 and deaths 1839-1900. I am researching the Misiaszek surname for my cousin and happened to run across the Misterka surname. It is possible that the film has more and I will be very happy to check it out for you but it may not be for at least a month. Do you have any dates available? I can't promise anything but will try. I happened to be checking my notes and found a marriage in 1860 for Martinus Swiatkowski son of Jacob and Catharina Kochanek he married a Catharina Kulaga daughter of Mathias and Lucia Dzierza. I don't know if you can connect with this.

That's all for now, happy searching.........
