Looking for relatives of Henry Poage and his wife, Bessie LaVerne Weiford. They raised a large family in the Marlinton, WVa area. I am looking for genetic information that may help with our family's research on pediatric cases of leukemia and autism. Please email any leads back as soon as possible. Thanks! Carolyn Bethea

Hi Carolyn,
I am a grandson of Edith Rebecca Poage Triplett, late daughter of Henry and Bessie. I know your post is a couple years old but I was hoping a might still reach you to find out what you know about the family, particularly the ancestors of Henry Poage. Also, curious if you are still searching for genetic relatives as my grandmother's sister is still living. Hope to hear from you!
Jim

Hello Jim,

I have not been on the ancestry site in a long long time. Hi Jim!

Yes, we have roots in Marlinton, W.VA. We have several family trees there, including the Moores and the Poage Family. We think my mother's father was one of the Poage boys born to Bessie Laverne Weiford. Not sure if it would have been a Clyde or a Dennis- Im very confused on who was in Marlinton around the year 1936. Any thoughts? And is their any special disease in the family tree such as childhood cancers, autism, birth defects? Also- do you know if the Poage family has only Scotch Irish blood or Jewish as well? Love to chat- caob@novonordisk.com
