Re: Margaret Poage Descendants who went to Kentucky
Thanks for the reply. I descend from Eleazer and Jane Robertson Givens. They are one set of G,G,G, Grand Parents. Their daughter Elizabeth married Andrew Neel Leeper in Hopkins Co. KY in Nov 1822. Most of what I can find about the Robertson's and Poage's gets rather confusing. I once made a comment that I saw little evidence of some of them coming to Kentucky, what I really meant to say was that James Robertson probably never left Virginia.

Re: Margaret Poage Descendants who went to Kentucky
I've never seen anything that indicates that James Robertson, husband of Margaret Poage, lived in Kentucky, though it would not surprise me if he had visited there. All records I have seen pertaining to him center around Augusta County, Virginia.
I am descended from their son, Robert Robertson. His only son, Solomon George Bryant, lived in Hopkins County, Kentucky, as did his father, until (trying to remember off the top of my head) between 1823-25, when he moved his family to Orange County, Indiana.
Since Robert had no other children, and there was some estrangement between him and Solomon over the Robertsons' treatment of Solomon's mother, Robert's will leaves his land to Solomon's sons, his personal property to his wife, Louisa and to his sister, Jane, and various money bequests to nephews, including Givenses and Laird. The estate settlement also mentions Andrew Leeper.

Re: Margaret Poage Descendants who went to Kentucky
Louisa Loni Givens was married to James Laird Jr. Eleazer and Jane Robertson Givens had eleven children. Too numerous to go into in this missive. From my research, they have spread from Hopkins Co. KY to the four corners of the United States.

Yes, I have that marriage, and a list of their children, but I thank you.

I realize this is a super old thread, but is anyone still working on this? I'm also a descendant of Robert Poage and his wife Elizabeth Preston through their son John and wife Mary Blair.
My branch traveled from VA to Daviess County, MO.

You might want to try posting a query on the Daviess Co., Missouri mailing list on Rootsweb. It might also help if you looked on Find A Grave for Poages in Daviess County.

I hadn't thought about posting on Rootsweb, thank you for the suggestion!
I've had some luck locating a few of the Missouri Poages on Find A Grave - in the Bethel Cemetery in Daviess County.
The greenhills.org has been very helpful as well.
My biggest mystery at the moment is John Samuel Poage (1873 - 1954)'s first wife Laura. She died in 1903 and I haven't had much luck figuring out who she is. I know her birth and death dates...and that she was buried in the Bethel Cemetery.
Thanks for you help :)
