Re: William Poage & Anne Kennedy / Poage / Wilson / Adair
I don't know about her Wilson connection other than that she married John Wilson before 1862, her first husband. He, killed by indians in VA. Had a daughter by Wilson. She died age 3 or 4. She married 2nd William Poague, son of Robert Poague & Elizabeth Preston, he too, killed by Indians. Betty

Barb, I find you question very interesting. I am the Fourth Geneartion Grandson of James Robertson and Margaret Poage. Margaret had been identified by some as the daughter of you subjects. I descend through their daughter Jane who married Eleazer Givens in Linclon Co. KY abt 1794-1796. James S. Ray

I am the son or Robert S. poage, and know nothing of my family history. i would like to know as much about where we came from if i could. my grand father was Robert S poage Sr. from carazoso New Mexico. any help would mean alot to me.

Sir, What can you tell beyond Robert S. Poage Sr.??? What does the "S" stand for?? Robert Poage of Ireland had many Sons and to connect you to the proper one will require some digging by you. What part of the United States does you family come from before New Mexico??? The Poage's that I speak of were in Virginia and some may have gone to Kentucky but there's no real proof of the Kentucky move in my research.

The full name was Robert Scott Poage, he died dec, 1981. I have no idea where they came from before they lived in New Mexico, I have no idea where my father is so i cant find out anything else about that side of my family, and have no idea where to start. All i know is my grand fathers full name, his birth date, the day he died, his SSN, and where he was from. Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hi James,
You stated in your message that there were no Poage movements to Kentucky as far as you could tell. My ancestor, Maj. George Poage, son of John, son of Robert and Elizabeth Preston, was a part of that movement to Ashland, Greenup Co. Ky. In fact, Ashland was first known as Poage's Landing. George Poage and Anne Allen had a son Allen Poage,my gr-gr-grandfather, who later removed from Kentucky and went to Vermilion Co. IL. Nancy

Is George the son of Mary Blair or Mary Crawford???? I know that Margaret Poage Robertson's daughter Jane lived in Kentucky, but other than her sister who married Allen Givens, I have no idea about the other Poages.
|
George Poage was the son of Mary Crawford I believe, according to the book "The Descendants of Robert and John Poage" by Bishop-Woodworth, Robert Poage Addition.
|
You mention that Allen Poage moved to Vermillion Co. IL. Do you live in Vermillion Co. IL???? I live in Massac Co. IL. I descend from Robert and Elizabeth Preston Poage through their daughter Margaret who married James Robertson through their daughter Jane who married Eliezer Givens through their daughter Elizabeth Ann who married Andrew Neel Leeper 14 Nov 1822 in Hopkins Co. KY. I often research at the Forrest Poage History Library on the Campus of Murray State University, Murray, KY.

No, I live in Missouri, but was born near Joliet, IL. I descend through Allen Poage and Margaret Terrill. Their daughter, Margaret Terrill Poage married my gr-grandfather Nathaniel Hamlin, who was from Lewis Co. Ky. They later migrated to Audubon Co. Iowa, and were the first settlers of that county.
