The Descendents of Robert John Poage
I have the John Poage Edition of this book by Robert Woodworth and am seeking the Robert Poage Edition. If you know where I may find it- or have any info on the Robert Poage Elizabeth Preston lineage, please write me!!!

I have the books, but for obvious reasons (like they are not available), I don't lend them out. I have been doing geneology work on the Poages-limited branches. I would be happy to share whatever I have except the physical books. If you would like copies of some of the pages-that would be possible, too. I won't be checking my e-mail for about a week and will start back to teaching school, so be patient-I'm not being stubborn-just busy!

Will be happy to send you pertinent pages. I forgot to tell you that some of the Mormon Family History centers have these books. I know the one in Salt Lake does and I think Oakland's also but small matter. Anyway, I'm in American Canyon, Ca. which is south Napa county--small world!

I inherited from my mother the 1954 edition of Descendants of Robert and John Poage. I am a descendant of Robert, whose home place in Augusta County, Virginia is about 20 miles south of where I live; 12 miles south of where I work. I love to go by there and think of him and Elizabeth Preston, his wife. They immigrated here in 1734 with 9 children; had the 10th after they set up housekeeping.
I am very busy, and not likely to be good about copying pages. But I will help you if I can. It is a much-used, beloved copy, first given to my grandfather, Garnett Cunningham Sites. I actually read through it sometimes, but have not done so in quite a while.

I am interested in info from the book regarding this lineage and am curious how many generations it covers (ie if it mentions George Austin Evans. etc?). Any info you could copy, pass on or what have you, I would GREATLY appreciate! Thank you!! Rebecca,
Mary Poage, one of eight children of General John Poage and Ann Poage, was born in Greenup County, Ky., Jan. 15, 1817, d. Hillsboro, Ohio Dec.3, 1853, m. Sept.12, 1845 Amos S. Evans, wholesale dry goods merchant, Hillsboro, b. May 16, 1816, d. San Jose, Cal, 1896.
I am not a geneolgist, but the way I read this very complicated (to me) passage, your John Poage Evans (b. Hillsboro, Indianna, June 2, 1845 - Jan. 4, 1920) one of two children of Mary Poage and Amos Evans, was married Jan 21, 1875 to Elizabeth Bevin Morris, dau Robert Desha Morris and Elizabeth Bevin. It appears they settled near Ft. Wayne, Ind. and raised their children there.
Their six children were:
Robert Morris Evans, deceased, b. Nov. 1, 1875
Mary Poage Evans, b. Feb 26, 1878, d. in 1883
Elizabeth Morris Evans, b. Mar 2, 1884 . She married John Hoffman .
George Austin Evans, deceased, b. Sept 26, 1888 (No marriage or children listed for him, sorry)
Ruth Margaret Evans, b. Aug 1, 1890.
Margaret Poage Evans, b. Feb 22, 1898.
If John Poage Evans was married to Fannie Austin, it is not in this geneology. This says he married Elizabeth Bevin Morris. George Austin Evans info I gave to you verbatim; no marriage, date of death, etc.
This took me a while to get to, and I took a while to type it up, but I learned something in the process, so I am glad you asked. I have to remember the geneolgy was published in 1954, and some of the folks mentioned were still alive.
