WELL-KNOWN PIONEER OF SOUTHERN OREGON

Jacksonville, Or. Jan 14

Hon. W.J. Plymale, a well- known pioneer of Southern Oregon, died Tuesday night, after suffering for the past few days with pneumonia. Mr. Plymale was born in Knox county, Illinois, February 8, 1837, and in the year 1852 he emigrated, to Oregon with his parents, arrived in Jacksonville in November of that year. He attended Willamette University, and was married to Josephine L. Martin, a member of a prominent Oregon pioneer family. They resided for a number of years on a farm in this county. Later they removed to Jacksonville, and Mr. Plymale engaged in business, owning a large livery stable here. He held many offices of public trust. He was county Surveyor two terms, and in 1874 was elected to the lower house of the Legislature form Jackson County on the Democratic ticket.

I am not related. I am posting for research purposes.
