A few. I have Minor's mother as Rachel (maiden name unknown at this time). She was in 1860 census of Union Co. NC. She was head of household with family of daughter Margaret, sons Minor, George, Wesley, Calvin. She was listed in the 1880 census. She was not in the 1900 census. So I am guessing she could have died between 1880-1900. I have found no death records or burial records or any info so far on her death.

On death certs for some of the boys, father is listed as Barnes Plyler or Calvin Plyler. Mother is listed as Rachel. But no date of birth for him. Birthplace for boys varies from Lancaster SC to Chesterfield SC.

So far I have not been able to Find a Calvin, Barnes or even Calvin Barnes or Barnes Calvin in SC. I could not find Rachel either. But when I was searching, the records on the internet was not as readily available! So I keep trying.

I think Rachel is Jacob Plyler's daughter (SC). In Herman Starnes's book on Plyler genealogy, there is a daughter Rachel listed. The year of birth is close to my Rachel. There is no genealogy for her. I don't know if Mr. Starnes could not prove her family or if at the time he could not find anything. So far I have not either but I keep looking. The Jacob Plyler's are connected to the Bliler and Rhinehart families. I found their genealogy on One World Tree website.

My father said his father (Wesley) never talked much about his family. Daddy never talked much about his growing up. I knew a few things but most I discovered from other relatives or what Daddy said to my sisters. It seems to be a family trait - the not talking much.

Good luck on your search. If I can answer anything else, let me know.

Surnames: Plyler and Truby
Do you have any information about any Plylers in Pennsylvania? My grandmother's maiden name was Marie E. Plyler. She married John J. Truby. She was born in Summerville, PA. She was born in 1888 and died in 1934 or 1935. I'm trying to find out her parents' names and where they came from. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Blilier's first came to Pennsylvania from Germany. The Bliliers migrated to the Carolina's where their name evolved into Bliler, Byler, Pliler, Player, Plyler. There are quite a few variations of the name.

Herman Starnes published a book on the Plyler genealogy. I believe it gives the history of the Bliliers in it. It has been a few years since I saw the book. It was in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh NC. Perhaps there is a copy at your local genealogy library or perhaps you could request your local library to ask for a loan of the book for you viewing.

If that book is not helpful, perhaps researching Blilier's on ancestry would be an option.

After many years of searching, I have found what you have found. Rachel is listed as single in most of the cencus records.
