CENTERVILLE, Iowa -- Eddy Wilfred Plyer, 56, 427 East State St., Centerville, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at his home after a battle with cancer.

Graveside services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Drury-Reynolds Cemetery. The Rev. Don Pirozok will officiate.

Mr. Plyer was born on Dec. 31, 1945, in Melon, Wis., the son of Wilfred and Hazel Duranso Plyer. He was married to Janet Plyer.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving 1965-69.

He enjoyed his motorcycle, fishing, music and loved children.

He was employed at Excel, Ottumwa, and also worked for H.J. Heinz Company and did clamming in Muscatine. Before his illness he worked for CSL cleaning crew in Ottumwa.

Survivors include a brother, Earl Plyer of Wilton; three sisters, Connie Hahn and her husband, Arnold, of Reynolds, Ill., Cheryl Pirozok and her husband, Don, of Richland, Wash., and Pamela Wilson and her husband, Mark, of Joliet, Ill.; two daughters, April Plyer and significant other, Logan Conley, of Ottumwa and Yvonne Plyer Gartin and her husband, Billy, of Kirksville, Mo.; two grandchildren, Treyton Plyer and Leigh Conley, both of Ottumwa; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Plyer in 1981.
