Note that a John Plybon/ Blybon can be found in the 1790 census/ property tax records of Chester Co., PA right next to Abraham Sink's name (younger brother of Stephen). Both Sink brothers were born in PA, the Sink family ran a tavern in N. Coventry Township during the Revolutionary War called the Swan Stagecoach Inn. They moved to Franklin Co., VA after 1790, and Stephen and Abraham had already married by this time. I have looked into the Chester County Archives online but cannot find info on the Plyborn name. In the census/tax record, it appears to be spelled with a B. I am guessing based on the marriage patterns of successive generations of both Sink brothers that the P/Blyborns were of German heritage. I am descended from both Sink brothers (Stephen on the maternal side, Abraham on paternal side) and there are a lot of marriages to others of German ancestry; Franklin C., VA had a large Dunker/ German Brethren community, which exists to this day. I am interested in hearing from others who trace their Plyborn ancestry to John of Chester County, PA.

The Plybon name may come from Philabaum, of the Rice's Fort attack.
I descend from Sink-Plybon-Beckner marriages from Franklin Co VA to Cabell WV.
Some trees I've seen here have Susan as a brother of John Sr.

Hi Jimmy,

My siblings and I supposedly descend from the Plybon line. My mom's dad was Mack Plybon son of Allen Jake Plybon. Over the past year we have all been doing the DNA testing and we are not showing up as being related to any of the Plybon's. Have you tested or no anyone from the Plybon line who has?

Thanks,
TerryLyn

Hi Terry Lynn,
Steven Sink and Susan Plybon are my 4th great grandparents. I am awaiting the results of my Ancestry autosomal DNA test. It will be at least another month before I hear anything. Hopefully, we will share some long threads of DNA. I have a direct maternal line back to Susan Plybon so perhaps the mtDNA test would be useful, but it is quite expensive. I also have a Stone line from Franklin County (Stephen Stone) and know that 75% of my ancestors were residing in Franklin Co VA and surrounds from the 1750s-1880s. I know very little about the Plybon family. Any direction you could offer would be appreciated.
I used a FamilyTreeDNA 37 marker test (my brother) to break through a brick wall and am excited to see what I can learn from this autosomal test.

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for the reply. I too have a direct line to Susan Plybon and Steven Sink - or at least I thought I did until we received some interesting results a few months back. Turns out my mom's dad may not actually have been her bio dad. We are hoping to do some comparisons with others in the lines to confirm. My mom's dad "should" have been a direct descendant/line to John Plybon and John Brushy Plybon. What did your brother's Y37 show? Were you able to get an idea of what the Plybon name actually was before it became Plybon?

Re the mtDNA - yes it is expensive but for someone who is coming down the Plybon line it would certainly be very interesting to see who else you might connect with considering the Plybon name has been misspelled so much. The mtDNA will probably go on sale again between Thanksgiving and Xmas if you are able to wait that long. I did mine last year and my haplogroup is H23 but my maternal/maternal line is Benbrook/Harvey/Weldy/Jeffries.

Sorry but the Stone name is my maiden name & apparently I too had a different bio dad. So I am trying to solve that mystery as well. I can't wait to see what your Ancestry results show. Are you familiar with GEDmatch? A lot of us are uploading our data to that site so we can do an actual comparison to see if and where we are matching. You will be able to see if you are truly matching me and/or my siblings or my cousin. Plus you can also upload to FTDNA for $39.

Great messaging with you. You can also find me under TerryLyn Stone if you would like to direct message me through Ancestry.
